The internet went through a phase that saw many valuable services and information absolutely free. There was a time that if you recommended a website to people that offered information or software of value, people might have replied “but they charge!”
There was a time that people would spend hours looking for a coupon code to save 2 dollars on shipping. There is nothing wrong with saving money but people were so obsessed with freebies that they would forget that they lost more looking for the coupon than what the coupon will save them.
Many learned that a free software means in many cases a compromised browser or system. A free PDF means a virus and other free services meant heavy ads and possibly a barrage of spam every day.
When it comes to gaming apps, well, you could pay or you could spend half the time waiting on ads to finish playing.
YouTube rolled out a premium version so people can avoid the ads. They now have over 30 million paid subscribers. Would this be the case 10 years ago? Absolutely not!
People have been retrained and many are undergoing that training now (most aren’t even noticing it). You want good stuff, PAY!
The internet is being wiped clean of many of those free sites. Many that are still around are broken and some will soon make you pay. Just look how many news sites that once said they will always remain free are either out of business or offer some type of premium membership.
You must stop thinking that people won’t pay for something of value. Everyday more and more people join the crowd of people that pay for value.
The reprogramming (not saying this in a negative way) happened in part when many apps started to add a tipping feature. TikTok, YouTube and so on. You also have standalone systems like Patreon that creators of value use to collect money.
I am writing all this so those of you that still put up a fight and refuse to pay for anything know that you are slowly becoming the minority. This is not to shame you, this is just to tell you the good news that all valuable knowledge you have is now something you could sell without stuffing it into a big book or video.
