For a moment there you might wonder, “next big trend”? Haven’t people been selling information for 1000’s of years?
A new trend does not mean something that has never been done. In these days, good technology can take something that has been done forever, and turn it into a real money maker for people that never thought they would make money from it.
Consider AirBNB, haven’t people been renting their homes out for 1000’s of years? Sure they have, however, by using technology, AirBNB made it easy for anyone to do it. Their platform also enabled people that never thought about renting someone’s home / apartment instead of a hotel, actually rent homes from people.
The same could be said about Uber. Hiring someone to drive you is not a new idea. Uber created a platform so many people that never thought they would work as a driver became drivers and earn a living.
What about music? So many talented music artists were never able to make any money off their talent because a few large record labels did not give them a chance. Now there are many platforms that these people can use to earn money from their music and gain a following.
I could say the same about people who take photos and videos of nature and many scenes. Before platforms like iStock and others, they had a hard time selling their work.
